About Candidate

Dear Hiring Manager,

My name is Manadji Tokindang, and I am applying for an available internship position. My interest in Mechanical Engineering stems from my childhood fascination with robots and airplanes. Growing up in Chad and the U.S, I was able to see the importance of technology and how it can impact lives, and this eventually led me to choose this major in college.

During my studies at West Virginia University, I had the privilege to learn from many great professors, from whom I’ve gained a lot of technical and interpersonal skills.

After a lot of theory and hands of work, my first experience of giving back to society came from my final capstone project. My team and I were tasked to take on the “Go baby Go” challenge, which focused on designing an electric ride-on car for disabled young child. Our patient was a 4 year old  girl with a cerebral palsy disorder, which limited her neck and hand movement. In charge of the electrical segment of the car modification, I’ve successfully implemented a Joystick to replace the original steering wheel with an Arduino. To further ensure safety, a speed potentiometer and an emergency kill-switch was added for the parents. Being able to see the patient test out the car and independently move around really brought joy to me, and confirmed that I’ve chosen the right path with my major.

After college, I went  back to Chad, my home country, and being away for so long I realized that a lot has changed. Not being able to adjust with the political tension earlier last year. With the year gap I had in Chad,  I continued on with my learning and dived deep into Machine learning and python by taking online IBM certifications; This enhanced my preconceived knowledge dating back to my Machine learning club days in college.

It is also important for me to mention that along with Mechanical Engineering, I have a Solid User Experience and Interface Design background, which dates back to 2017 where I often collaborated with groups of friends to build simple application.

My engineering journey has not been easy but along the process I’ve learned how important team work and hard work is. I am eager to learn more and contribute my skills to your company.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you.
